Using Step bars on pickup and heavy equipment trucks

The term nerf is usually associated with foam because of indoor footballs or other foam-made balls. These are, on the other hand also used to describe small collisions by cars on the race track. The term is now closely associated with the accessory attached to the vehicle below the passenger doors. This is to be installed as a protection for the sides of the cars from rocks or debris and specifically uncovered tires. A nerf bar is now also known also as running board.

What step bars for trucks would usually add to enhance the look of your vehicle is it makes it more rugged. If you would compare a pickup truck with and without step bars, the one without it would look incomplete. Before, nerf bars were only used for race cars to facilitate getting past other cars. Today, they have made it to the commercial car industry and have become one of the most popular accessories for Sports Utility Vehicles, pickup trucks and even trucks used for hauling cargo and heavy equipment trucks.

These have evolved in function to the most practical which is to add a lower step for drivers or passengers to easily climb in and out of the cab. The truck steps are especially usefully for heavy equipment trucks like payloaders, backhoes and the like because the driver would have to step on the wheel and lift himself just to get to the driver’s seat. He doesn’t have to put this much effort if a step bar is installed on the truck.

As much as it is useful for heavy equipment truck, step bars are also very useful accessories for commercial vehicles like pickup trucks and SUVs. These commercial cars benefit from step bars as they also provide a lower step for passengers climbing in and out of the cab. Children have short legs and unable to lift themselves in climbing into the passenger cab which makes step bars a very valuable add on to your vehicle. A particular Chevy pickup truck, the Silverado is a great example for having a Silverado step bar as an add-on accessory.

With all the hype for step bar accessories, car makers have already picked up the trend and started to offer bundles for every vehicle purchase. If you decide to have these installed out right on your purchase, you will not regret it because of the benefits that this accessory offers.
